One of those days

Today at work a coworker went into the office next to mine. He was asked how his day was going. His reply, "I could tell when I came in this morning it was going to be one of those days."  "One of those days..."  What comes to mind when you hear that phrase? For me, I used to think "one of those days" meant one filled with misery...a day when all the world was against me. If something could go wrong it would. "Momma said there would be days like this...she just didn't say they would be so close together."  These phrases almost always bring with them a feeling of hopelessness.
Then on "one of those days," it was pointed out to me some truths that I had overlooked in the Word of God. Truths like, "This is the day that the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it"(Psalm 118:24). "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose"(Romans 8:28). The Lord patiently and kindly taught me that He is in control of the type of day I have. He is the One who makes every day and whatever happens in it is designed for His glory and for my good. No matter what type of day it is, whether it is hard or easy it is working together for my good. The Lord loves His own and is not out to make us miserable. He wants what is best for us. Because of that, I can rejoice and be glad in whatever kind of day I am having. Selah.
